Dave Eggers-Blog7

My take-aways from this video is that students need more one on one help. Dave is encouraging one on one help with students. Another take-away is that if you give students the help they need, they will exceed expectations. My final take-away is that education, when made fun, can make a great impact on kids. We stereotype education to be boring, but it can be fun if the teachers make it fun. When something is fun, it has a greater impact on people. We remember something because it is fun not, because it is boring. Having something be fun adds another dimension to learning. It make it more enjoyable. The speaker's effective speaking techniques are that he is humorous and is light in his attitude, despite his topic being very serious. His presentation style his that he goes from funny to serious and back to funny. He is not overly serious all the time and he is not overly funny all the time. He uses slides and anecdotes to illustrate his point then, really drives his point home in the end.

What matters in this video, as it relates to me, is that it wouldn't kill me to go see a teacher even if I already have mastered the topic. I may learn something new and develop a solid relationship with my teacher; so that when I need help I won't be afraid to ask. What matters in this video, as it relates to education, is that students need one on one help to be successful. They also need an element of fun to learn better. We remember the fun stuff in our lives easier than, just boring note taking. What matters in this video, as it relates to the world, is that education can vastly be improved with a little fun and one on one time. It is surprising how much better a kid can learn with a little fun and one on one time. We need an element of fun in our lives. Having fun is what keeps us sane.
